Qualifications and Experience

Tomi is a qualified psychologist, registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, with endorsement as a Community Psychologist. She has a Masters of Applied Psychology (Community Psychology), Bachelor of Arts (Honours in Psychology) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Drug and Alcohol Work. She is also a Level II Qualified PACT Therapist, which provides a strong framework for her role as a couples’ therapist.


Tomi began working in the mental health field in 1997 and has worked with the elderly, in adolescent forensic mental health, in substance dependency, in anxiety and depression specialist services, and with individuals and couples in numerous community and professional settings.


She has worked as a psychologist in private practice for over 10 years. She works with adults and adolescents aged 18 or over, individually or in couples.


Professional Areas of Expertise

  • Therapeutic counselling and psychological treatment with individuals experiencing difficulty with emotional states or life functioning.
  • Assessment, psychological education and therapeutic treatment with individuals with an anxiety disorder, including panic disorder, agoraphobia, social phobia, generalised anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and specific phobias.
  • Assessment, psychological education and therapeutic treatment with individuals with mild to moderate depression, including perinatal depression.
  • Counselling with individuals experiencing significant social or emotional distress, including grief.
  • Therapeutically assisting individuals to address and manage the consequences of childhood trauma or traumatic incidents in adulthood.
  • Stress management, relaxation and meditation training.
  • Psychological interventions to improve problematic sleep.
  • Relationship counselling with couples.
  • In collaboration with their GP, assisting people dependent on tranquillisers (such as Valium, Xanax or Temazepam) to minimise or cease their use of those medications.
